Job Title: Construction Assistant / Skilled Laborer

Pay: $19.00 per hour to start

About the Role

Shannon Staley and Sons (SSS) is looking for a reliable and motivated Construction Assistant / Skilled Laborer to support our residential construction projects and construction staffing clients throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area.

 

This is a hands-on position that involves working closely with builders, project managers, and craftsmen on a variety of job sites. The work is steady, varied, and ideal for someone looking to grow their construction skills with a company that values dependability, teamwork, and pride in doing the job right.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Assist SSS Project Managers and Builder Project Managers on residential construction sites.
• Drive the company van to haul materials, remove trash, and support active job sites.
• Perform a variety of hands-on construction tasks including site cleanup, demolition, hauling materials, and light carpentry or repairs and painting as directed.
• Help maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
• Use basic hand and power tools such as drills, saws, hammers, and utility knives.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors and teammates.
• Travel independently to construction sites or to the SSS office as needed to access the company van.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

• 1–2 years of construction experience or exposure preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
• Must have or be willing to acquire basic construction tools: gloves, boots, hammer, screwdrivers, 5-in-1 tool, pry bar, tape measure, pencils, utility knife, broom, dust pan, and screw gun with bits.
• Dependable, punctual, and ready to work every day — reliability is the most important part of this role.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
